Research
My research studies the inputs and outputs of the health care system to understand why health care services produce different outcomes for patients. I spent a lot of time thinking about how different types of data can be used to understand this relationship. Statistics and machine learning are the engine that powers my analysis. A large part of my research is also working with health care professionals to integrate insights and evidence-based interventions into their daily practice, so that they can do their best work.
Most recently, my doctoral research contributed to the understanding of health care resource use patterns of community mental health services, and making the health care funding reform in the province of Ontario and Canada one step closer to reality. My doctoral research was made possible by the Ontario Trillium Scholarship from the Government of Ontario, the University of Waterloo, and interRAI Canada.
